On May 5th I was asked, last minute, to jump aboard a Women in Film panel at Digital Hollywood in Santa Monica. The topic was Women Creators as Innovators and I was lucky enough to share the stage with amazing Actress / Producers Beth Grant and Sharon Lawrence, as well as Producer and ‘Maker’ Jesyca Durchin. I haven’t been on a panel in a while, but with my recent work building the Scirens group and my past experience in new media, namely producing webseries ‘After Judgement’, ‘Hurtling through Space at an Alarming Rate’ and writing Stan Lee’s ‘Super.Model’, I was really excited to share all my experiences with the Digital Hollywood crowd. But beyond hearing myself talk ;) it was inspiring to see such successful actresses like Beth and Sharon producing their own projects AND being involved with new series on cutting edge platforms — like Chris Carter’s ‘The After’ on Amazon. And the 3D maker work that Jesyca is involved with, and it’s application to storytelling was some pretty great food for thought. Her company is 3D Systems and it’s on the cutting edge of 3D printing. A huge thank you to Women in Film for including me and to my fellow Sciren Tamara Krinsky who suggested me and moderated the panel with her usual wit and brilliance.
